PROFILE KNIVES

 HOW TO ORDER PROFILE KNIVES

For moulder heads on a range of machines, they are used in sets of 2, 3, 4 or in some cases up to 24. The number of knives is determined by your knife head as well as the specifics of your situation. Corrugated knives are available in ¼", 5/16" and 3/8" thickness. Your knife head may require a specific size. All of the knife heads in the W. Moore line will accept any thickness knife. We have corrugated knives in several grades of steel and carbide. Ask us for a recommendation to get the most cost effective setup for your job. We will need to know RPM, feed rate, wood to be cut, and the length of your run. Then we’ll recommend the solution that will get the job done in the most economical way. For moulder/planers such as RBI & Woodmaster, the thickness of the knives is determined by the gibs (wedges) that hold the knives in place. They will be either ¼" or 5/16" and are usually used in sets of 2 or 3.

WILLIAMS AND HUSSEY STYLE KNIVES (WH):

The W&H machine as well as a number of imports (Shop Fox, Bridgewood, Grizzly, etc.) use knives with holes for bolting them to the machine. The holes are one inch apart, and allow for 3/8" bolts. We can also supply the W&H type knives with corrugations for use on multiple machines. Ask us if this solution makes sense for your application.

SMOOTH BACK STEEL KNIVES (SB - SB1):

For many mouder/planers such as Foley-Belsaw, Grizzly, Woodmaster, RBI, & Powermatic, we supply ¼" thick smooth back knives in matched sets of 3. We can also supply the gibs (wedges) to hold the knives in the machine. Another variation on some of these machines is a single knife, together with counterweights for the remaining pockets.Some machines have a knife head with a single knife pocket. We can supply these with counterweights based on your manufacturers specification.

EUROSTYLE INSERT SHAPER CUTTERS (EU):

These are often identified as Amana or Jesada knife blanks.
They are most often 40mm (19/16") tall with mounting holes near the bottom. We have an extensive line of standards, as well as the ability to make custom profiles.
Other variations of this are the Amana Profile Pro, CMT Insert Shaper System, Dimar Multi Profile Cutter System, Baker or Logosol moulder.
We stock knife blanks up to 130mm (51/8") long to make standard or custom knives.
